Biography
I was born on March 19th, 1959 in Glückstadt, Germany. Four years later my family moved to Rome,
where I lived until I started the Violinmaking School in Mittenwald in 1978.
After my apprenticeship I worked in the following workshops:

Carleen M. Hutchins, Montclair, N.J.
Andreas Kägi, Berlin
Peter Biddulph, London
Andreas Post, Amsterdam
Hieronymus Köstler, Stuttgart.
In 1989 I earned my master degree in Berlin. Shortly thereafter, I started my own shop in Turin, Italy, dedicated both
to restoration and making. However, when I decided to concentrate on making new instruments I decided to leave the
city and move to the countryside in Tuscany near San Gimignano. Since 2003 I am a founding member of the Association of
Tuscan Makers (Associazione Liuteria Toscana) and together we exhibit regularly at music fairs and other occasions.
Since 2006 I work part-time in Berlin, Germany.
